Educational Opportunities

The Woman's Club of Concord awards a $1,000 scholarship every year to a highly motivated and directed senior who is selected through an application process. This is a wonderful opportunity for a college-bound senior girl in the Concord area.

Interested applicants may download the application form from this site. Information can also be obtained from the guidance departments at the three Concord-area public high schools: Concord, Bow and Merrimack Valley. The deadline for applications to be submitted to the Woman's Club is usually in early April.

The Woman's Club Scholarship Committee then reviews the applications and evaluates each applicant. Of particular interest to the committee are the areas of academic achievement, leadership, community service and involvement, interest in women's issues and financial need. Four finalists will be selected and interviews are held in mid-April at Chamberlin House in Concord.

2011 Scholarship WinnersThe Scholarship Committee selects the winner based on the interview results. The scholarship recipient is invited to attend the Woman's Club's annual meeting in May, where she meets members of the club and receives the certificate for her scholarship. The Woman's Club notifies the recipient's high school and sends a press release to the Concord Monitor.

After completing her fall semester, the recipient briefs the Scholarship Committee on her accomplishments for the term and includes a copy of her transcript. Once this report has been received and evaluated, the Woman's Club of Concord sends $1,000 directly to the recipient's school, to be applied to her second-semester tuition.
